I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 08
I nodded politely.
Tessa hurried over with a tablet. I didn’t let the guards inside. Instead, I turned the screen toward Julian.
“The estate also has plenty of things you gave me. I had them cataloged last night. Please take them with you.”
The gates swung open, revealing rows of neatly arranged boxes filling the courtyard.
Owen and the other guards were stunned.
Julian finally gave me a real look, but he didn’t take the tablet.
“I don’t need them. Do whatever you want with them.”
“Perfect. I don’t need the things you’re returning, either.”
I said calmly, “The items that can be auctioned will be sold publicly, and the proceeds donated to the Lorne River disaster fund. The items that can’t be circulated—the royal guard can supervise their destruction.”
Then I looked at him again.
“As for the few things that belonged only to us, I want to deal with them at Lorne Gorge. You should be there to see it.”
He didn’t refuse.
We got into the same SUV. I leaned against the door on the right; he sat as far away as possible on the left. We didn’t speak the entire way.
As we drove through the city center, reporters recognized the Cedar Ridge crest. Before long, people on the roadside were holding up their phones.
“That’s the Carver family car.”
“The girl the prince dumped.”
I rolled up the window.
Julian had heard it too. He turned to look at me.
“I didn’t realize public opinion was this bad. I’ll have the press office handle it.”
“No need.”
When we reached Lorne Gorge, I got out of the car.
Before me lay the hydraulic works, still under repair, the steep rock walls, and the surging river below.
This was where Julian had been ambushed and swept away.
