I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 07
A few days later, Owen arrived at the Cedar Ridge estate with the royal guard.
Several trucks stopped outside, and guards began unloading dozens of boxes.
Owen’s ears were red with embarrassment.
“Prince Julian said that since the engagement is canceled, the royal apartment shouldn’t house your things any longer. He said Iris would be upset if she saw them.”
From the moment we were engaged, my mother had reminded me to send gifts regularly to maintain our private relationship with the royal family. Clothes, books, keepsakes, handmade items—over the years, they had accumulated into quite a collection.
The sight of those boxes made my eyes sting.
“He’s certainly thought of everything.”
Owen didn’t know what to say to that.
Looking at those old belongings, I suddenly remembered a video from my first birthday. The table had been piled high with toys, but I’d ignored them all, toddling through the crowd to throw my arms around a six-year-old Julian.
Everyone had laughed, saying I had chosen the most precious gift in the kingdom.
He had occupied so much of my first twenty years.
Owen called my name softly, as if waking me from a dream. “Genevieve?”
I came back to myself.
“If he wants a clean break, then he can come himself. Take it all back.”
I turned and went inside, leaving him no room to argue.
Tessa fumed as she followed me.
“Why not keep it? Even if you sold it and donated the money, it would be better than letting them haul it all back.”
I shook my head.
“Some of those things have royal registration numbers. They can’t be sold on the public market.”
A few days later, the estate gates opened again.
This time, Julian himself stood outside as Owen and the guard unloaded the same boxes once more.
He looked at me coldly.
“I came myself. Are you satisfied?”
