I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 30

The next day, Julian came to the estate again, his wounds still not healed.

The guards didn’t let him in.

He blamed no one. After that, he came every day. His wounds kept reopening, and dark circles shadowed his eyes.

While handling royal affairs, he also searched for the things I had discarded or auctioned. Each day, he sent one over, but not a single item ever reached my hands.

In the spring, Stella and I went to fly kites at a park outside the city.

Rain soon began to fall, and we took shelter under a covered lakeside bridge.

Through the mist, Julian came toward us without an umbrella, his steps unsteady. The wound on his forehead, which should have healed long ago, was bleeding again.

He stopped a step away, careful not to let the rainwater dripping from him touch me.

In his open palm lay a dry good-luck charm.

He was soaked through, but he had protected it completely.

“Genevieve, this is what I found today.”

The charm came from the mountaintop memorial, a place that required climbing thousands of steps to reach.

He was badly injured and still pushing himself like this. Of course his wounds would never heal.

I didn’t take it.

“What’s the point? You’re first in line to the throne. You can have anyone you want.”

He lowered his eyes.

“But none of them are you.”

“None of them are my Genevieve.”
