I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 35
On the other side of the screen, Martin was so angry his beard was trembling.
“You lied so hard you dragged me halfway across the kingdom and nearly got me killed on the road.”
Julian sat in a medical chair and slowly lifted his eyes.
“The official record says I had amnesia. So I had amnesia.”
He picked up an emergency injector from the table—one loaded with a highly concentrated wolfsbane extract—and pressed the needle to the side of Martin’s neck.
“Now. What’s your diagnosis?”
Martin lowered his voice, but not his temper.
“Traumatic amnesia, all right? Though with the way silver wounds and old poison have hollowed out your body, you may not live much longer than an old man like me.”
Julian put the injector away.
“Then I’ll trouble you to fix this body for me.”
Which meant Martin would not be allowed to leave.
The old man resigned himself to packing his kit, but before he left, he paused.
“You can hide fake amnesia and systemic collapse for a while. But the King will find out sooner or later. When that happens, what am I supposed to do?”
Julian raised a brow.
“You diagnosed a relapse of old injuries. Nothing else.”
Martin understood. Carrying his medical case, he left through another door.
I stood behind the screen, uncertain whether to go in or retreat.
But Julian had already sensed another presence.
“Who’s there?”
He came around the screen, and his gaze collided with mine.
First surprise. Then, slowly, a smile curved his lips.
