I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 36
That face was identical to Julian’s, yet the feeling he gave off was utterly alien.
I remembered the rain-soaked castle steps.
The same features, the same body, and yet whenever I drew near, my wolf had warned me that something was wrong.
A bold conclusion suddenly formed in my mind.
“You’re not Julian.”
I looked straight into his eyes.
After a moment of silence, he answered softly, “I’m not.”
“The real Julian died long ago.”
I forgot to step back.
“What did you say?”
He immediately reached out to steady me, as if afraid I might bump into the corner of a desk. Then, as if angered by his own instinct, he snatched his hand back.
He started laughing, laughing so hard he began to cough up blood.
“He died in that attack. He fell from Lorne Gorge and never came back. The person you’ve been seeing since then… has always been me.”
He walked to the desk and picked up a stack of papers.
On every page, the same word had been written over and over: Julian.
“I’m the one who’s been finding one old object every day and sending it to Cedar Ridge. Today, I copied your childhood handwriting and wrote all of these. I was planning to have them delivered.”
He looked at me, his eyes as black as night.
“But now, you’ve already figured out I’m not him.”
