I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 40

As an adult, Rowan remained at Julian’s side as a shadow guard.

Julian knew nothing of his brother’s existence, and the other guards had never seen Rowan’s face. Only the head of the training program knew the truth.

Rowan was the best of them.

He was also the one who cared least about his own life.

On a mission, he wanted only results. Injuries meant nothing. Years of silver wounds and lingering wolfsbane toxin had long since eroded his ability to heal.

Martin sighed and said that the moment he examined him, he knew the man was not Julian.

The real Julian had been healthy. He would never have been collapsing from the inside the way Rowan was.

I asked, “You’ve been away for years. How do you know all this so clearly?”

Martin didn’t hide it.

He had once saved the life of the man in charge of the training program, and now and then, encrypted letters reached him with updates on Rowan.

What I cared about most, though, was something else.

“How did everyone mistake him for Julian?”

Martin shook his head.

He had only confirmed it for sure tonight. The twins carried similar royal bloodline scents. Rowan had also undergone years of mimicry training and used scent samples from Julian’s old guard equipment to cover the differences.

As for what exactly happened after the ambush, only Rowan knew.

At last, I understood why Evelyn had seemed so cold during the state banquet.

She had probably realized long ago that Julian was dead.

Now I was the third person to know the prince’s true identity.
