I Sold His Gifts To Leave My Mafia Husband Chapter 07
Then the Family adviser called.
“The boss has summoned the district heads for a seven o’clock meeting tonight. You need to explain why you disguised a private benefit to a Conti representative as care expenses for a protected dependent.”
Matteo stared at the ring in the evidence bag.
“Who gave you the records?”
“Your wife.”
“She’s not my—”
He couldn’t finish the sentence.

“As of ten o’clock this morning, she is not. You signed it yourself.”
The call ended.
Matteo stormed into the study and pulled up the house’s security footage.
He rewound to the night before.
At two-thirty in the morning, Daisy returned, pushing a wheelchair. Pearl sat in it, wrapped snugly in Daisy’s down coat.
Daisy settled the old woman on the sofa and started packing.
Her movements were fast and precise, not the impulsive actions of someone throwing a tantrum.
She packed only one suitcase and one backpack.
When she was done, she went to the dining table and put down the envelope.
Then she returned to the sofa and bent to lift Pearl into her arms.
An eighty-three-year-old woman was thin, but for Daisy, she was still heavy.
Daisy clenched her jaw, her arms straining, and gently lowered Pearl back into the wheelchair.
Before leaving, she paused in the entryway.
She turned and looked back at the house.
The camera caught her face. There were no tears. No hesitation. Only the profound calm of someone who had already given everything away.
Then she opened the door and wheeled Pearl out into the dead of night.
