I Sold His Gifts To Leave My Mafia Husband Chapter 06
Matteo tore the envelope open.
On top was the filing receipt for the divorce papers.
Underneath was the signed registration from the Vitale family adviser, confirming the withdrawal of spousal protection.
The protection ring was sealed in a small evidence bag.
Daisy had returned the identity the Vitales had given her as cleanly as it had been granted.
At the very bottom was a single sheet of paper.
Only one line was written on it.
“Matteo, you’re free. Don’t come looking for me again.”
He stood there, holding that page for a long time.
Then he started making calls.
Daisy’s number was disconnected.
Her encrypted messaging account no longer existed.
He contacted her only two friends. One said she hadn’t seen Daisy in six months. The other never answered his call.
He called The Willows.
“Pearl Bellandi was transferred out three months ago.”
He called Sunnyside.
“She was discharged by a family member last night.”
“Taken where?”
“The family member didn’t say.”
Matteo’s hand began to shake as he held the phone.
