I Signed Away Eight Million To Leave Him Chapter 10

He had simply chosen to hurt me anyway.

Over the next month, he called from different numbers, sent emails to my school account, and even had flowers delivered to the library.

I organized every record by date and never answered once.

Until one Friday night, when my apartment’s security desk called.

“Ms. Ellis, there’s a Mr. Graham Vale in the lobby. He’s drunk and insisting on seeing you.”

On the other end of the line, I could hear shouting, sharp as breaking glass.

“Mara! Come down here!”

I tightened my grip on the phone.

“Don’t let him up. I’m coming down.”

The moment the elevator doors opened, the stench of alcohol hit me.

Graham’s tie hung crooked, his shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, and two security guards were blocking him at the key-fob gate.

When he saw me, he shoved one of them aside.

“So you finally decided to see me?”

“This is private property.” I stopped on the safe side of the gate. “If you leave now, I can pretend this never happened.”

He laughed.

“Are you giving me orders?”

“Yes.”

The smirk on his face froze.

No matter how many events he had taken Sloane to, no matter how many ugly things he had said, I had always remained silent.
