Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 20
I changed clothes, pulled a cap down low, and did my best to look like a boy.
There were still a few bodyguards in the complex, watching people come and go.
Wearing a baseball cap and loose sweats, I squeezed through a gap in the iron fence.
The system thought I was finally ready to behave, so it eagerly guided me.
I called an Uber and headed for Matteo’s house outside the city.
The security there was tight.
The system coached me the whole way, telling me how to avoid cameras and patrols.
I climbed over the wall without any trouble.
Hugging the side of the building, I crept forward and hid under a window, where I heard Matteo raging on the phone in the living room.
“What do you mean you can’t find her? It’s a tiny, shitty complex, and you still can’t find one person?”
“Then keep looking until you do.”
“If you can’t find her alive, then find me a body. I refuse to believe I can’t handle one broke bitch!”
Listening to him lose his temper, I changed my mind.
I turned and went to the garage.
The system didn’t understand.
“Aren’t you supposed to go please him? What are you doing in the garage?”
I said, “My mom taught me never to go to someone’s house empty-handed. It’s more polite to bring a gift.”
The system went silent for two seconds.
Then it saw what I was carrying and shrieked, “How is a can of gasoline a gift?”
