You Shipped Me Off I Married Your Boss Chapter 06

“After all, Brian sees you as a sister. That makes me your future sister-in-law. I’d really love to have your blessing.”

I looked out toward Liam.

He stood by the car. Tall. Lean. His eyes warm.

Something in me went still.

“Sure. I wish you both a lifetime together. Bound to each other. Forever.”

Brian stood in the garden with a few friends, cigar in hand.

His gaze kept drifting toward Madison and her group.

He knew what they were doing. Tipping Skylar off. Same as always.

Any time a woman got near him, those girls would tell her.

And Skylar would come running, crying, throwing fits.

He hated that. Found it exhausting. So he’d ditch the woman. Easy.

This time would be no different.

That’s why he’d chosen her departure day.

Except the engagement auspicious hour landed at six in the evening. Bad timing.

Skylar could catch a flight right back and arrive just as the ceremony started.

“Brian, what if Skylar shows up and throws a fit?”

“Yeah, you marrying someone else? She’ll lose her mind.”

“But she’s been pretty quiet lately.”

“You and Natalie have been all over each other and she hasn’t said a word.”

“Before? She’d have been sobbing her eyes out.”

Ash hung from Brian’s cigar, long and unshaken.

He forgot to flick it.

His mind snagged on those last two sentences.

Quiet. Too quiet.

But he knew her. This wasn’t her nature.

Growing up, he’d rejected her more times than he could count.

But she always came back harder. Never backed down.

She was older now. Better at biding her time.

Something clicked. He stubbed out his cigar with a cold laugh.

“Just wait. She’s never been one to behave.”

“Brian, you’re saying Skylar’s going to come make a scene?”

Brian didn’t answer.

But inside, he was sure.

The girl had always been a romantic.

Lost herself in love stories and romance novels as a teenager, staying up until two or three in the morning.

She’d pulled every ridiculous stunt in the book on him.

He knew her.

All this peace and quiet was just a tactic.

He’d bet his life on it. By the time the ceremony started, Skylar would be there.

“Tell security to stay sharp.”

Brian checked his watch.

“No uninvited guests.”

He’d barely finished speaking when Madison came running, skirts in hand.

“Brian, it’s Skylar. She’s here. Her car’s at the gate—”

Something leapt in his chest.

Then his face hardened.

“Ridiculous. She never learns.”

“Brian, what do we do? If she causes a scene, the Crawfords will be humiliated.”

Brian’s jaw tightened. He turned and strode toward the gate.

“Let’s see what she thinks she’s going to pull.”
