You Shipped Me Off I Married Your Boss Chapter 10

When Brian reached the gate, Skylar wasn’t there.

Her custom Tiffany Blue MINI Cooper sat quietly at the curb.

But the person standing beside it was her best friend. Zoey.

Brian’s steps halted.

Something tugged in his chest. A small, sinking weight.

Then he remembered.

Skylar had given the car to Zoey before leaving LA.

Zoey spotted him and walked straight over.

In her hand, a white envelope.

She didn’t waste time on pleasantries.

“Skylar asked me to give you and Natalie this. Wedding gift money.”

Brian didn’t reach for it.

Zoey frowned.

“One more thing.”

“What?”

“She left in a rush. Never got the chance to see you. She called a few times, but you never picked up. So she couldn’t ask for it back.”

“On your birthday a while back, she gave you an antique brooch.”

“It was her mother’s gift to her father. A token of their love.”

Zoey’s smile turned sharp.

“Skylar said that brooch is meant for her future husband. Keeping it with you now? That’s inappropriate.”

“Can you give it to me? I’ll bring it to her when I visit Chicago.”

Brian’s gaze dropped.

He stared at the tanzanite brooch gleaming on his chest.

This morning, dressing for the day, he’d chosen it without thinking.

It didn’t even match his suit.

But he hadn’t switched it.

But now, looking at the brooch, it only stung his eyes.

For her future husband.

Brian didn’t know why, but the thought of Skylar marrying someone else—

Sharing a bed with a husband—

Something ugly twisted in his chest.

She loved him. How could she marry another man?

She’d gotten smarter, he’d give her that.

Send Zoey instead of coming herself. Demand the brooch back.

He had to admit it. She’d rattled him.
