My Fiancé Swapped Places With His Twin At The Altar Chapter 15
I let out a long breath, only then realizing my palms were slick with sweat.
After the new partner was finalized, I had just stepped out of the building when Matteo intercepted me.
He blocked my path, his eyes bloodshot.
“Bianca, let’s talk.”
He looked at me as if he no longer knew what tone to use.
He was used to ordering me, coaxing me, freezing me out, and then waiting for me to come crawling back.
None of it worked anymore.
In a low voice, he said, “I admit it. I was wrong that day.”
I looked at him quietly.
His lips were pale.
“I shouldn’t have had Alessio take my place at the altar. I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that in front of everyone. And I shouldn’t have pushed you.”
“At the time… I was just confused.”
“Ashley kept saying she’d waited for me for so many years, that all she wanted was one wedding.”
“I thought I was just granting her a wish. That after it was over, I could come back and make things right with you.”
I gave a small, bitter laugh.
“You married me off to someone else, and then you were going to come back and make it right with me?”
Matteo seemed to have no answer.
“So what did you expect?” I asked him. “That I’d cry and make a scene for a few days, then go back to waiting for you? That because I loved you, I would just swallow that humiliation?”
“Matteo, the moment you handed me off to your brother, we were over.”
He suddenly reached out, as if to grab me.
I stepped back.
His hand froze in midair, his fingers trembling slightly.
“Bianca, I really do love you.”
I had waited so long to hear those words.
Now that they had finally come, I felt nothing.
“Love me?” I asked. “When your mother humiliated me, you just stood there and watched me get drenched in wine.”
“You say you loved me, but when I fell into broken glass, you told me I brought it on myself.”
“You say you loved me, but you let everyone believe I was some shameless woman trying to seduce her own brother-in-law.”
