You Shipped Me Off I Married Your Boss Chapter 22
I called Mr. Crawford.
Asked after him and Mrs. Crawford first.
Then, carefully, I brought up the brooch.
“Mr. Crawford, I was young. Foolish. Made a lot of embarrassing mistakes. Thinking back now, I just feel regret. Shame.”
“Brian is engaged. I don’t want to cause any unnecessary misunderstandings.”
Mr. Crawford sighed on the phone.
“Skylar. I’ve always been fond of you. Always doted on you. Truth is, I always wanted you to be Brian’s wife.”
“Your aunt has been in tears talking about you lately.”
My heart ached.
But only for them. For their genuine love.
“Mr. Crawford. Feelings can’t be forced.”
“You’ve been wronged, Skylar.”
“I haven’t. I’ve come to terms with it. I’ve let it go.”
“I’ll help you get that brooch back. In a few days, your aunt and I are coming to Chicago for a wedding. I’ll bring it to you myself.”
I thanked him and hung up.
The shipping company arrived. They loaded the boxes.
In a few days, everything would be back in Brian’s hands.
And soon after, the brooch too.
Then the foolish years would be over.
Truly. Completely.
