I Gave The Prince To My Sister And Found My True Mate Chapter 08

I Gave The Prince To My Sister And Found My True Mate Chapter 08

“Get some rest,” I said with a faint smile. “What belongs to you will find its way into your hands in the end.”

Rosalie froze, likely not expecting that answer from me.

I turned and went to find my mother.

“There’s one more thing,” I said. “I want to marry Royal Border Guard Commander Caleb Warren.”

After drinking the aconite in my last life, my consciousness hadn’t vanished right away.

For seven full days, like a scentless, bodiless shadow, I lingered in the Royal Castle.

I watched Lucian rush into the west residence and gather my body into his arms.

His red-rimmed eyes looked as if they could devour everyone around him.

He called my name over and over, his voice so hoarse it was nearly unrecognizable.

“Audrey! Why would you do this?”

“Why did you have to die?”

Floating high above, I watched him lose control and found it absurd.

What right did he have to wear that expression?

He was the one who had stripped me of my royal claim with his own hands, the one who had taken away my identity as Luna Queen.

He was also the one who had said to my face, “Rosalie is pregnant. This time, it won’t be up to you.”

And now that I was dead, he suddenly acted as if he had loved me all along.

Later, Caleb led the northern border troops back to the capital.

Lucian had summoned him with the highest-level royal order.

Caleb was the kingdom’s youngest border commander, stationed year-round in the rogue territory north of the Northwatch Pack. He had no Alpha territory of his own, but he held authority over the mobilization of the royal northern legion. His military achievements and prestige were enough to make every member of the Council remember his name.

That day, there wasn’t a trace of triumph on his face.

He stormed into the royal hall of farewell and stood staring at my coffin for a very long time.

Then he did something no one expected.

Caleb grabbed Lucian by the collar and slammed the new King to his knees in front of my coffin.

“You don’t deserve to grieve for her.”

It was the only time in Caleb’s life that he openly attacked the kingdom’s highest ruler.

Lucian never punished him for it.

Because that very night, Caleb ended his own life at the northern legion’s capital garrison.
