Everyone Betrayed Me While I Carried His Baby Chapter 05
The family rushed to the police station.
The baby was safe, sleeping in the arms of a nanny.
The officer glared at Cassian.
“What kind of parents are you? You drop your infant off at a 24-hour care center and then forget you did it?”
“If you’re this careless now, what’s going to happen down the road?”
“So Angela wasn’t stolen? She was at the care center?”
The officer nodded and pulled up the surveillance footage.
“Your wife dropped her off personally.”
Cassian whipped his head around to face Jenna.
Jenna bit her lip, tears of grievance still clinging to her lashes.
“Cassian, I’ve just been so tired lately. I forgot.”
“That’s enough. Why are you blaming her? The baby’s fine, isn’t she?” Adriana said, immediately shielding Jenna.
Cassian’s face was sheet-white. He turned and strode out of the station.
“We have to find Seren. I think… I think she was bleeding.”
Adriana’s expression changed, and she followed him to the car.
Cassian drove recklessly, blowing through three red lights.
His mind was stuck on the image of Seren’s face, twisted in pain.
The look in her eyes—utter despair.
If this was all a misunderstanding, from beginning to end, then what had he just done to her?
The thought made him raise a hand and slap himself, hard, across the face.
Beside him, Adriana spoke in a low voice. “Don’t blame yourself. Angela was missing. Anyone would have panicked.”
“Seren will understand. We’ll just buy her a cake from Lady M, her favorite, and apologize.”
They carried the cake back to the house. But when they called my name, the bedroom was empty.
There was only a dark, dried trail of blood leading from the side of the bed all the way to the door.
