His Number Changed So I Changed My Life Chapter 17
He had lived in this industry for years. There was no way he didn’t know about the rumors.
His silence was a form of permission. He was letting them attack me.
On the third day, Madison appeared outside my apartment building.
I have no idea how she got the address.
When I came home from work, she was standing by the entrance in a white dress.
“Charlotte,” she called out, blocking my path. “You’re already getting a divorce. Can’t you just stop contacting Parker?”
“He can’t focus because of you. He’s forgetting his lines, and yesterday he nearly got hurt during an action scene.”
I stopped walking.
“I’ve already reported those anonymous accounts to the police.”
Her expression changed instantly.
“How could you involve the police?”
She stared at me for a few seconds, then smiled.
“It doesn’t matter. Parker knows what I did. He didn’t stop me. I’m the person he cares about most now.”
I looked at her and, for the first time, felt a flicker of pity.
“Are you trying to prove that you won?”
“I was never competing with you,” I said. “If you want a man who cheats on his wife, you can have him.”
I turned toward the entrance.
Behind me, Madison raised her voice.
“Charlotte Mercer, you’re not that special. You’re just a woman your husband threw away.”
I didn’t look back.
The building’s security camera recorded our entire conversation. I gave the footage, along with all the online evidence, to my lawyer. The next day, a judge issued a temporary restraining order forbidding Madison from contacting me or my family.
The service record showed that she had personally signed for the papers.
I thought that would be enough to make her stop.
I never expected her to go after my mother.
