He Called Me A Stone And Chose Her Pearl Chapter 29
“You think rather highly of yourself.”
Theo strode into the room, his voice so cold it seemed to freeze the air.
“You kidnap my bride and still have the audacity to claim you’re a better choice than the Crown?”
The Royal Guard immediately seized Nolan, while another soldier moved to cut the restraints from my wrists.
Nolan’s face was ashen, but he still tried to insist he had only come to collect Vanessa, that this was all a misunderstanding.
Theo pulled me into his arms, his laugh devoid of all humor.
“You think everyone is like you, unable to see past a pretty face?”
“The one I chose is Laurel. I would never mistake her voice, her eyes, her scent, or a single one of her habits.”
My tears fell then, hot and fast.
In twenty-two years, no one had ever chosen me so completely, so unequivocally, as Theo did.
On the way back to Royal Castle, he told me what happened.
Worried the long ceremony would leave me hungry, he had gone to the bride’s waiting room himself—and recognized at a glance that the person inside was Vanessa.
At first, Vanessa had insisted she was me. When Theo pointed out the subtle differences, she claimed the wedding cars and access passes had been mixed up and that she had only played along to avoid ruining the wedding.
She had even tried to pull open her dress to prove she had the same body as me.
Theo had immediately ordered a female guard to stop her, then pulled the location data for the wedding cars, the residence access logs, and the data from both wristbands.
