He Called Me A Stone And Chose Her Pearl Chapter 30
The records showed that my mother had put a werewolf suppressant, obtained from Vanessa, into my drink. My father had disabled the internal alarm in my wedding car. Vanessa had given my access pass to her own driver.
Royal security had been momentarily fooled because identical twins were leaving the same residence for two different weddings, with the entire household conspiring to cover their tracks. But less than seven minutes after my vehicle deviated from the royal route, the security center had raised an alert.
Theo had sent a team to track my car while he personally interrogated Vanessa. In the end, she admitted that Nolan would be waiting at the Northcrest center to receive me.
“I was going to have her thrown in a Royal Guard holding cell,” Theo said, his voice hard. “Then I changed my mind.”
“Northcrest was so insistent on finishing the wedding today, weren’t they? Fine. Let Vanessa and Nolan take responsibility for the contract they signed. Once the ceremony is over, the Royal Council can deal with the kidnapping they planned together.”
I agreed.
If they dared to treat me like an object to be traded away in the most important choice of my life, then they deserved to face the consequences together.
Theo and I were married on time.
Before representatives from every pack and the cameras broadcasting live to the entire nation, I formally became Theo’s sole royal consort. Afterward, at the installation ceremony for Luna Queen, the Royal Council and the Alphas of every territory jointly confirmed my authority.
Theo did not spare my parents.
But he also did not hold the rest of the Greenvale Pack responsible for their actions.
Father was dismissed from the Royal Archives and stripped of his access to all royal records. The Royal Council relocated him and my mother to a remote town and barred them from entering the capital for five years.
Before they left, they repeatedly asked to see me, hoping I would intervene.
I refused every time.
The moment my mother handed me that drink and my father switched off the alarm, the last thread of family between us had snapped.
As for Vanessa and Nolan, the Northcrest Pack immediately removed Nolan from the line of succession.
After their marriage was registered, the Royal Council exiled them to a remote territory on the southern border, where they were to live under the supervision of the local pack, forbidden from ever returning to the capital.
Once Nolan lost his inheritance, he fell into a deep depression. It wasn’t long before he took a local woman as a mistress—not a Luna, not anyone of rank, just a woman he used to spite the wife he was trapped with.
Vanessa fought with him constantly over it.
During one of their arguments, she set fire to their house. The local pack’s fire brigade put out the blaze. Both of them survived, but they lost what little they had left and were charged with arson.
On the day it was all finally over, I sat alone by the garden lake at Royal Castle.
On the water, two flowers growing from the same stem were being blown by the wind in opposite directions.
And in that moment, I understood.
Vanessa and I may have shared a face and a scent, but we were never the same person.
My parents’ favoritism had wounded me, yes.
But when I finally broke free, I chose to stop competing and walk toward a life that was truly my own. Vanessa, on the other hand, chose again and again to snatch, to deceive, and ultimately, to destroy herself.
The same starting point never meant the same end.
