He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 54

“She sent those screenshots to your mother first, and you brought them to me.”

He fell silent.

Those messages were not something I had stolen.

Tessa had handed them over herself while trying to shift blame onto Daniel.

Then Daniel, trying to persuade me to withdraw the case, had put them in my hands.

Now that they were public, no one could claim I had obtained them improperly.

“Claire,” he said, his voice lower now, “this started because of me. Can’t you just put all the blame on me and leave Tessa out of it?”

“I’m not interested in assigning your blame for you.”

“Then what do you want?”

“I want her to stop lying.”

The video feed from the front lobby chimed on my screen.

Daniel was still standing outside the glass doors, his face drawn with exhaustion as he looked up toward the security camera.

“You didn’t used to care this much about being right.”

“This isn’t about being right.”

I looked at him.

“She lied to my employer, put clues to my address online, and implied that I used my money to take property that never belonged to her. I want her to take those words back.”

“But you already proved yourself.”

“I do not need to prove that I am entitled to my own property.”

Daniel closed his eyes for a second.

“Then I’ll post the public correction.”

“You can correct the lies you told.”

I paused.

“The lies Tessa told are hers to answer for.”

Then I ended the call and told the front desk to ask him to leave.

The glass doors of the lobby never opened for him.

Ten minutes later, his figure finally disappeared from the screen.
