He Signed My Freedom Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 34
Everything finally came to light the night Noah ran such a high fever that he could no longer maintain his wolf aura.
By the time the housekeeper reached Lucian, the child’s temperature had already crossed into the danger zone. The family Healer said that any later and it might have damaged the foundation of his wolf, affecting his first shift in the future.
Vivian was at a Dawncrest banquet.
Lucian rushed back through the rain and, for the first time, demanded to know why she had not been caring for the children.
She hurried back in formalwear, smelling of alcohol and crying.
“I thought it was just a normal fever.”
And Lucian still softened.
“We’ll let it go this time. Just be more careful.”
Reading that line, I could almost hear his tone.
Even with evidence right in front of him, he was still used to finding excuses for Vivian.
Late that night, Noah’s condition finally stabilized. Lucian stepped out for an urgent border matter, only to realize he had left his car keys in the ward.
When he went back, he heard Vivian’s voice, sharp with contempt.
“Little brat, stop pretending to be weak. You made me leave the banquet early.”
Noah apologized through his tears.
“I didn’t mean to get sick. Please don’t hit me.”
“If you dare act pitiful in front of your father again, I’ll make sure you never become the Alpha heir. You’re just as annoying as your mother.”
Lucian kicked the ward door open.
For the first time, he saw Vivian’s face with no mask left to hide behind.
The record said his Alpha pressure flooded the entire corridor in an instant. The younger guards could barely stay on their feet.
