Abandoned XXL Wife: My Second Husband Is A Tycoon Chapter 16
I had heard from Ethan that Daniel was still on the run.
The contaminated formula had already reached the market, and many babies had suffered adverse reactions.
Daniel wasn’t just facing bankruptcy.
He was facing criminal charges.
“Sophie, it’s me.”
“My company is gone.”
“I’m finished.”
He grabbed my arm.
“We were married once. Doesn’t that count for something?”
“Please, Sophie. Go talk to Ethan for me.”
“Everyone knows how much he cares about you now.”
“If you ask him, he’ll listen.”
“Please. Just ask him to help me get through this.”
I stared at him.
“Daniel, you actually have the nerve to talk to me about marriage and loyalty?”
“When you threw me out of your house, did you remember that we were once married?”
“When you had the servants take every valuable thing I owned, did you remember any of that?”
Daniel lowered his head in shame.
“Sophie, I was wrong.”
“Every day since you left, I’ve thought about you.”
“I regretted it.”
I laughed coldly.
“Funny how you only came to appreciate me after you lost everything.”
“You’re unbelievable, Daniel.”
“And what you did isn’t some business mistake.”
“You put babies in danger.”
“You broke the law.”
“You deserve whatever punishment the law gives you.”
“I won’t help you.”
“And nobody else can save you.”
Daniel saw that I wasn’t going to change my mind.
“Fine.”
“If you won’t help me, I’ll find another way.”
“I can rebuild the Kane family.”
“I’ll come back.”
He turned to leave.
I grabbed his arm.
Then I shouted toward the mall entrance.
“Security!”
“Get over here!”
“We’ve got a wanted criminal!”
Within seconds, security guards and nearby shoppers came running.
Daniel’s face went gray as they pinned him down.
He struggled and stared at me.
“Sophie.”
“Do you really hate me that much?”
I looked him straight in the eye.
“This isn’t hate.”
“It’s justice.”
I never expected someone to record the whole thing.
By that evening, the video of me catching Daniel had spread all over the internet.
Suddenly, everyone was talking about the woman who had helped capture a wanted criminal with her bare hands.
And, of course, Ethan couldn’t resist stealing the spotlight.
“Yes.”
“I am the husband of Sophie Foster, the woman who personally helped capture that wanted criminal.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of my wife.”
“She has always hated injustice.”
“That strength is exactly what drew me to her.”
Then he dropped the biggest bomb of all.
“On behalf of my wife, I will donate one billion dollars to orphanages and children in impoverished mountain communities.”
“I hope one day, no child in this world will have to suffer because of someone else’s greed.”
At home, Charlie was watching the interview on TV.
He covered his face and buried himself in Grandma’s arms.
“My dad’s acting like the world’s biggest lovesick husband.”
“I can’t watch this.”
Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster covered their faces too.
“Neither can we.”
The end.
