After Lefting Me On The Bridge He Lost His Mind Chapter 07

Truett’s face contorted, and the last of his patience snapped.

He shoved the box of matcha cake toward me.

“Mavis, don’t push it. I came all the way to this hospital—what more do you want? Since you saw the messages, you should have also seen everyone saying it was just a game.”

“A game?” I looked at him coldly. “A game where you gambled with my life to make sure Chloe won?”

He yanked at his tie, about to lose his temper, when the door to the room opened again.

“Truett… you’re here?”

Chloe peeked in, holding two cups of matcha latte. When she saw me, she immediately put on an innocent expression and stepped inside.

“Mavis, please don’t be mad at Truett anymore. I know you’re upset, so I went out of my way to get you the most popular matcha latte and cake from that place to say I’m sorry.”

She glanced at the cake box on the bedside table and smiled at Truett.

“You already got one? It’s usually so hard to get anything from that shop.”

I looked at the two of them, and a wave of nausea washed over me.

The moment Truett saw Chloe, his tone softened instinctively.

“Didn’t I tell you to stay at the office? Why did you come here? Be careful you don’t catch something.”

“I was worried about Mavis.”

Chloe carefully held the latte out to me, her eyes reddening again.

“Mavis, please try it. Truett said this is your favorite place, that you love their matcha desserts. I shouldn’t have made that bet with Ryan. Just drink this and forgive him, okay?”

“My favorite?” I turned to look at Truett.

Truett frowned.

“Just take it, Mavis. Chloe stood in line for half an hour for that. Haven’t you always wanted one? Don’t make her stand there feeling awkward.”

I didn’t move. I just stared at the latte, then suddenly smiled.

“Truett, if you had ever paid the slightest bit of attention to me, you would remember that I’m allergic to matcha.”

Truett’s face fell.
