After Lefting Me On The Bridge He Lost His Mind Chapter 16
The bidding conference began.
By random draw, the New York branch went first.
Truett stood on stage, the suit that had once fit him perfectly now hanging loosely on his frame.
He took a deep breath and clicked open the PowerPoint.
The moment the data and structure appeared on the big screen, I almost laughed.
It really was the first draft I had pulled three all-nighters to create six months ago—before scrapping it myself.
At first, Truett managed to get by, reading directly from the notes I had left behind. On the surface, he was holding it together.
But the moment the Q&A started, he fell apart.
“Mr. Moretti, your proposal mentions a third-quarter cost-compression ratio. Can you elaborate on how that model was built?”
Vice President Wang from the corporate office tapped a finger on the table, his gaze sharp.
“Given current market volatility, this forecast seems overly optimistic. Did you conduct any stress testing?”
Truett froze.
Sweat beaded on his forehead, and he instinctively looked down at Chloe in the audience.
But Chloe knew nothing about core data.
Panicking, she fumbled with the papers in her hands, then actually stood up in a rush.
“Vice President Wang, Truett put a lot of thought into those numbers. There won’t be any problems. Could you please just hear the creative section first…?”
The whiny, pleading tone that usually worked so well for her sounded utterly ridiculous in a setting like this.Â
