All In No Regrets Except Losing Her Chapter 11
First light. I’m walking to the gallery.
Zane’s there. Sitting on the steps.
He stands when he sees me. His legs buckle for a second — too long sitting in the cold — before he steadies himself.
“What are you doing here?”
He looks at me. Eyes hollow. Wrecked.
“I just need to know.”
“You said forever. You said it was me. Then you turn around and do a ceremony with Silas?”
“Tell me the truth. How long were you two together behind my back?”
I look at him. Calm.
“Silas and I got together after you gambled away our ceremony.”
I pause. Keep my voice even. Every word clear.
“Zane. Don’t project your shit onto us.”
“The one who betrayed this relationship was you. Not me.”
“What’s going on between you and Ivy — I don’t think I need to spell that out.”
His face drops.
Like something heavy just crashed through his chest.
She knows.
He nods. Swallows hard. Fighting to keep the sob locked behind his teeth.
“I’m sorry.”
“I hope you’re happy.”
I smile. For the first time.
“Thank you too.”
“Thank you for letting me go. For giving me another choice.”
I pause. Look at him. And I mean it.
“I hope you and Ivy are happy.”
I turn around. Walk into the gallery. Don’t look back.
The wind picks up behind me. Early autumn. Cold.
Zane shivers.
Wraps his arms around himself.
And stays there.
