At My Baby Shower He Celebrated Another Woman’s Child Chapter 24

The day Sadie was formally charged, she wore the kind of innocent white dress that had always suited her best.

Standing on the courthouse steps, she wept for the cameras, claiming she was just a single mother abandoned by a wealthy, powerful family.

“Nora has money, lawyers, and a journalist friend. She just wants to drive me to my death.”

June stood behind the media scrum, her camera down.

She looked at me.

“Want to respond?”

“No.”

I handed the charging documents back to my lawyer.

“Let her say it in court.”

Half an hour later, Sadie was at the defendant’s table.

The prosecutor displayed the original text from my phone, then the fake screenshot she had given the police.

After that, one by one, guests from the birthday party confirmed they had heard her say, “Brooke taught me how to edit the doorbell footage.”

By the time Brooke took the witness stand, Sadie was panicking.

“She came to me first!” Brooke pointed at Sadie. “She said if Nora was declared mentally unstable, Graham would have grounds to push her out!”

Sadie sprang to her feet.

“You hated Nora more than anyone! You were the one who said she had everything, and you were sick of being the one standing next to her!”

A bailiff pressed her back into her seat.

She kept struggling.

“Graham was in on it, too! If he hadn’t vouched for it, the police never would have locked Nora up!”
