Bound To The Wrong Mafia Boss Loved By The Right Golden Boy Chapter 04

The Ambush

A bullet tore through my shoulder.

“Ahhh…”

I hit the ground. Blood everywhere.

Through the haze, I heard more gunshots. Bodies dropping. Not mine.

A familiar figure rushed in and pulled me into his arms.

I was shaking. He held me tighter, his voice low and steady: “Don’t be scared. I’m here.”

I forced my eyes open.

The second I saw Dominic’s blood-splattered face, I gathered every ounce of strength I had and slapped him.

His head turned slightly from the impact. Then he pulled me in even tighter.

Everything went black.

Half-conscious, I felt myself being laid onto a bed. Through blurred vision, I saw Dominic stumble out of the room.

“Where is he going?” I forced the words out.

One of the staff answered: “He got the thing Mira’s been wanting. She’s already here in the area. He’s going to meet her and hand it over.”

“What… thing?”

“A collector-grade ruby. Mira said whoever gives her that ruby gets to marry her.”

My fist clenched the sheets so hard I couldn’t even feel the gunshot wound anymore.

Good. Very good.

So that’s why he disappeared before the deal. He was out getting my adopted sister her engagement gift.

No wonder he agreed to come on this trip so easily.

Dominic Graves. You really were something else.

…

On the yacht back, I called Dominic to my room and tossed him a box.

With the Graves family fortune behind him, buying his own freedom would’ve been nothing.

But I wasn’t going to drag this out anymore.

The Ashford car was already waiting for me at the dock.

He didn’t open it. Just tucked the box away.

I said: “You’re not going to look?”

He kept moving, didn’t even lift his head. “It’s just the marriage contract. Nothing to see.”

I smiled faintly. “What if it’s not?”

He narrowed his eyes. “Would Miss Sinclair actually let me go?”

I said nothing. Turned and walked out.

He followed behind me, bodyguard pace, unhurried.

An older woman suddenly grabbed my arm. “Val?”

She beamed, holding my hands. “Oh, it really is you! I haven’t seen you since your mother passed. This is the first time in years!”

Then she noticed my bare neck and paused. “Where’s that turquoise pendant your mother asked me to deliver to you? That was a Master Rinaldi original. One of one in the entire world.”

Behind me, Dominic’s head lifted slightly.

The pendant he kept pressed against his heart. Master Rinaldi. One of one.

Before I could respond, Mira appeared out of nowhere and latched onto Dominic’s arm. “Dom! There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you, I need your help with something!”

Dominic glanced at me.

I gave him a look. Indifferent. Dismissive.

He let Mira pull him away.

As she turned, Mira shot me one cold, venomous glare.

…

After dealing with my mother’s old friend, my mood was ruined.

The yacht docked at a port stop. I went ashore to the underground fight ring to clear my head.

But while I was leaning against the railing waiting for the match to start, Mira appeared behind me.

“Name your price. For that turquoise pendant.”

I turned. “A Rinaldi original. One of one. You know what that means?”

“Please.” Mira flipped her hair. “I’m going to be Mrs. Graves soon. When that happens, forget a necklace. I could buy you. Name your price.”

I smiled, slow and deliberate. “You couldn’t afford it.”

Her expression darkened. “So we can’t make a deal?”

I turned away. “Now that you know, leave.”

She glanced around. “Funny timing. The cameras in here are down for maintenance today. And the crowd hasn’t come in yet.”

I froze.

The next second, two hands shoved me hard. Half my body went over the railing.

Below, the dog cages were already open.

“If you don’t cooperate with me, then just die in hell!”
