Everyone Betrayed Me While I Carried His Baby Chapter 13
All the lies were laid bare.
Cassian looked down at the child in his arms, a baby that wasn’t his. A strange sense of relief washed over him.
This meant he didn’t have to take responsibility for Jenna or her child.
There was no one standing between him and Seren anymore.
My parents swayed on their feet, trembling with rage.
They finally turned to me, their voices soft.
“Seren.”
“Dad, Mom, this is probably the last time I’ll ever call you that.”
Calmly, I took a document from my bag.
It was a statement drafted by my lawyer, legally severing all family ties between us.
“Sign this, and the trust will send you a monthly living allowance.”
“If you don’t sign, you will never see me again for the rest of your lives.”
“Seren! My child, what are you saying?”
My mother rushed forward, sobbing, and wrapped her arms around me.
“You’re my daughter. How can you cut ties with your own mother?”
I pried her fingers off me, one by one.
“The moment you chose to abandon me for Jenna, to lie to me, to join the others in hurting me—you stopped being my parents.”
“It was because of your sister,” my mother cried, her eyes filled with a pain I’d never seen before.
“You don’t know, but when you were five, I was pregnant again. With another girl.”
“She died not long after she was born.”
“Later, when you brought Jenna home, she was always clinging to your father and me. It felt like… it felt like our little girl had come back to us.”
I froze.
I had never known.
“So?” I asked.
“Because you missed another daughter, you thought it was okay to treat me like this?”
