He Accused Me Of Stealing But I Heard The Truth Chapter 14
Rachel found out what happened in the hospital room almost immediately.
She sat in her office all afternoon, compiling Derek’s personal pharmacy receipts, his visitation logs, and his office schedule into a pink folder. After work, she drove to the Weston family estate in Lake Forest.
Margaret Weston was playing bridge with a few old friends.
Rachel didn’t enter the sitting room. She waited outside the study for Derek to return.
When he walked in, she stood.
“I’ve organized all the payment records from the hospital. There are a few legal risks you need to be aware of.”
He handed his coat to the housekeeper.
“I told you not to involve yourself in Maisie’s affairs.”
“I was worried no one was reviewing these documents for you.” Rachel followed him into the study. “Erin can consent to treatment, but she refuses to establish your paternity. The hospital can’t add Maisie to your family insurance, and you have no legal standing for medical decisions.”
She flipped to the final page.
“If Maisie has an emergency, Erin can make the final call alone. After discharge, she can take the child out of Illinois. You won’t even have the right to be notified.”
