He Accused Me Of Stealing But I Heard The Truth Chapter 27

Derek slid a payment record across the desk.

“The car used to rent that clinic was registered to your shell company. You also purchased the drugs. You took Erin there, didn’t you?”

Rachel opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

A long moment later, she burst into tears.

“Because I loved you! I stood by your side for twelve years. She did nothing, and she got to live in your apartment, wear your ring, and carry your child.”

Derek stepped back, his face a mask of disgust.

“What you loved wasn’t me. It was the Weston name and the power you could wield through me.”

Rachel jerked her head up.

“You can’t do this to me. I did so much for this company. The money can be repaid. I can leave. You can’t destroy me just because Erin came back.”

Derek pressed the intercom on his desk.

“Have security escort the police in. Turn all of this evidence over to them.”

“Also, contact Erin’s lawyer. Tell her I will sell personal shares to make up the full amount that was misappropriated. Maisie’s treatment will have no conditions attached.”

The assistant glanced at Rachel, hesitating.

“Sir, if we call the police now, it will hit the stock price. The board may ask you to step aside.”

“Let them.”

Rachel lunged forward, grabbing Derek’s arm in a panic.

“Don’t call the police! I’ll return the money. I’ll leave Chicago today. Don’t let her ruin your company.”

Derek peeled her fingers off his arm, one by one.

“Erin didn’t ruin anything.”

“I gave you the chance to do all of this. And you chose to do it.”

When the police entered the office, Rachel was still hysterically insisting that everything she had done was to protect Derek.

He never looked at her again.
