He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 35

Sienna resurfaced on the day my project’s final results were announced.

She didn’t come to Boston. Instead, she posted an old photo on Instagram.

In it, she and I were in our college graduation gowns, with Gabriel standing between us, all of us beaming.

Her caption was a single, cryptic line.

[Some people take everything and still pretend to be the victim.]

The comments section quickly filled with questions.

She never answered directly, but she kept dropping hints, implying that losing her child and losing the man she loved were somehow my fault.

A coworker sent me the link just as I was getting ready to go on stage.

“Should we notify Media Relations?” she asked.

I looked at the photo.

Every public post Sienna had made over the past three years was still visible on her profile—the Thanksgiving dinner, Gabriel’s hand on her stomach, my parents’ fawning comments.

She seemed to have forgotten that the internet has a long memory.

I forwarded the old screenshots and a copy of my divorce decree to the institute’s media office.

“If anyone asks, just confirm that the anonymous complaint was investigated and that my employment and project were found to be fully compliant with all policies. There’s no need to respond to anything else.”

“You’re not going to push back publicly?”

“I don’t need to. She already posted the answer herself.”

Sure enough, people started digging.

The tone of the comments on her new post shifted almost immediately.

[Wasn’t the man in this picture married to your ‘friend’ at the time?]

[Three years ago you were posting about how the baby’s father loved you. How is someone else suddenly stealing your man now?]
