He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 36
[Why are Margot’s parents commenting all over your Thanksgiving photos from back then?]
At first, Sienna tried deleting the comments. Then she shut down her account completely.
I didn’t look again.
When it was my turn to go on stage, the auditorium lights washed over my face. I opened the presentation I had spent months preparing.
Gabriel wasn’t there. Neither were my parents.
Julian sat in the back row. When my eyes found his, he gave me a small, encouraging nod.
After the presentation, the committee announced that the project would be moving into its next phase of development. I stepped down from the stage and was immediately surrounded by cheering colleagues.
That night, Gabriel called Sienna.
“Delete everything about Mags.”
“I already did. Are you satisfied?”
“Don’t ever bring her up again.”
Sienna’s voice turned shrill.
“You think you’re protecting her? You were the one with me. You were the one who used her parents to trap her in the first place.”
Gabriel didn’t deny it.
“I know.”
Those two words only made Sienna angrier.
“What do you know? You only started acting like she was the love of your life after you realized she was never coming back.”
“If she hadn’t left, you would have kept lying to her, and you would have kept coming to me.”
There was a long silence on the line.
Sienna was right.
Gabriel had thought that by not divorcing me, he was proving he loved me. Only after I was truly gone did he realize he had only ever wanted to have everything at once.
Before hanging up, Sienna said, “Don’t contact me again. Looking at you just reminds me of how pathetic I’ve been.”
Gabriel put down his phone and sat alone in the dark.
This time, there was no one left to share the blame.
