He Chose Her On Our Wedding Night So I Took Everything Chapter 09
What the Hawthorne family had always wanted wasn’t a daughter-in-law willing to swallow her pride. It was the orders and financing they were about to lose.
“The deal we had on the table was an annual procurement framework large enough to keep your production lines running, complete with credit support and access to our retail channels.”
I looked at Eric.
“The contract was never signed, and the credit line was never approved.”
“Now, the group will not be moving forward.”
Madison opened her mouth, but for the first time, no words came out.
Eric looked ill.
“Elodie, don’t bring personal feelings into business decisions. We can sit down and talk about this.”
Wyatt stepped aside, clearing a path for me to the door.
“The car is outside.”
I picked up my last bag and walked out.
Eric took two steps after me.
“Elodie Carrington, wait. What happened at the wedding—I can explain.”
Madison ran after us, all the triumph gone from her voice.
“Elodie, I was just joking last night! Don’t really cancel the project!”
Wyatt stood beside me and said quietly, “The property has all been accounted for. We’ll hold on to the two recordings for now. Whether to send a cease-and-desist letter for harassment is your call.”
I glanced back one last time.
Eric stood in the doorway, Madison hovering behind him. She wouldn’t meet my eyes.
