He Chose His Ex So I Chose My Empire Chapter 25

Before he died, he held my hand tightly.

“That test… it was wrong.”

He looked at me, his eyes full of regret.

“I’m sorry, Elara.”

He gasped for breath, then continued, “Serena… she kept me company for a long time. I’ll leave her an honorary title and some compensation.”

On the day the will was read at the law firm, Serena sat across from me in a tailored black suit.

She looked as if she were waiting for a result that had long been decided.

The lawyer read from a long document.

The most important part came down to a single sentence.

I, Elara Vance, inherited full control of the Vance family trust.

Then came Serena’s portion.

“…in gratitude for Miss Serena’s companionship and contributions, she is hereby granted the honorary title of foundation trustee, without voting rights, along with a one-time allowance of two hundred thousand dollars.”

The smile on Serena’s face froze.

She shot to her feet, her sharp voice cutting through the quiet office.

“Two hundred thousand? An honorary title?”

“I spent years of my life on him, became the person he trusted most, and this is all he leaves me?”

She turned to look at me, her eyes burning with resentment.

Watching her lose control, I felt only a quiet satisfaction.

She had spent so much time and effort trying to take what was mine, and in the end, she had nothing to show for it.
