He Left Me Broken Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 10

I bit my lower lip and turned to face him.

“Are you actually in pain?”

I repeated his own words back to him, mimicking his exact tone.

“When you asked me that, what were you thinking?”

The color drained from his face.

“Mia told me some people fake being sick to get their partner’s attention. She suggested you might be testing me. I believed her. I…”

“So if Mia says something, you just believe it?”

I let out a single, sharp laugh.

“Do you ever think for yourself, or is it only when she’s involved that you outsource your judgment?”

He said nothing.

“Fine. Since you still don’t get it, I’ll teach you the first rule of boundaries.”

I pointed to the two feet of space between us.

“When someone tells you they don’t want to see you, you don’t show up at their door every single day. Now, back off.”

His expression crumbled.

“But I want to see you.”

I looked down. Years ago, he’d stood by a car door, the evening wind ruffling his hair, and a single “okay” from him had felt like everything I’d ever wanted.

“Why did I ever like you?”

I looked back up at him.

“You should really think about why you always need someone else to tell you what to do.”
