He Locked Me Out Now He’s Begging Me Back Chapter 58

She opened her mouth.

“I was just angry. Dad sold the house, and Grandma kept blaming me. Ever since we moved to the new district, Noah keeps asking why we can’t go back to our old home.”

“That wasn’t his home.”

“He lived there!”

“I lived there, too,” I said. “And living somewhere doesn’t make you the owner.”

Her eyes reddened slowly.

“You have everything. A new condo, your job, your parents, Marisol. We have nothing.”

“You have a job. Noah has his mother. Daniel is still alive.”

“He doesn’t take care of us anymore!”

“That’s between you and him.”

She finally lost control of her voice.

“But all of this happened because you sold the house!”

The front desk attendant looked over.

I didn’t raise my own voice.

“No. It happened because when you and Daniel made me a guest, you had already decided my objections didn’t count.”

I lifted a hand and pointed to the papers she was holding.

“And even now, you still believe your feelings matter more than the facts.”

“I’m not here to be lectured by you.”

“Then go home.”

I turned to leave.

Tessa slapped a hand lightly against the glass. “Wait.”

I stopped.

She looked down at the pages in her hand, crushing the corners.

“If I post it, you won’t sue?”

“If you publish the full correction required in the letter and stop contacting my employer and my residence, the rest will be confirmed by the lawyers.”

“You can’t even give me a straight answer?”

“When you gave me a twenty-one-day countdown, you didn’t ask if it was enough.”

She jerked her head up.

I didn’t say anything more.

The ten minutes were up.

I turned toward the elevator.

The glass door stayed closed.
