He Moved His Lover In I Moved My Money Out Chapter 12
“It’s not her fault!” Graham rushed onto the stage, pulled out a new diamond ring, and dropped to one knee in front of me, tears streaming down his face.
“Nora, I knew you’d never really leave me. Forgive me. Let’s renew our vows right now. I prepared a whole new beginning for you.”
Applause broke out from the guests.
I stepped around him and took back the microphone. He reached for it, and I turned aside.
“Half a month ago, I filed to end this marriage. The reason is sitting right there, with Claire Bell.”
My lawyer’s assistant pressed a remote. On the giant screen, one by one, appeared the photo of the plaque inside the wall, the inscription dedicated to Claire and Owen, the symbolic thirty-year lease signed four months ago, and the audit trail of the six hundred thousand dollars.
The ballroom went dead silent.
“This wasn’t kindness. It was fraud. I refuse to be part of a relationship like this. From today on, whatever Graham Whitmore is or does has nothing to do with me.”
I set down the microphone. A legal process server walked through the crowd and placed the papers in Graham’s hand.
The ballroom erupted into chaos. Eleanor trembled with rage. Claire burst into tears and ran out. Graham didn’t go after her. He only watched as I walked toward the doors, one step at a time.
Only then did he understand.
The lavish stage he had built to save face had just become a courtroom for his own judgment.
