He Priced Me At A Penny So I Married Another Chapter 06

My Aunt Carol in Boston heard I was coming and sent me the address of a spare room. She said if I needed anything, we could buy it after I arrived.

Mrs. Hale was staying with her sister that night and told us to leave as planned.

“I’ll come by tomorrow to watch over the rest of your mother’s things while they’re being loaded. No one’s going to touch them.”

Everett returned the rental car near the station. By the time we reached 30th Street Station, it was already dark.

Derek posted a photo in the group chat. My key card was sitting on a table in front of Tori.

“She’s staying with you tonight. Good chance for you to teach her how to get along with a man.”

Tori replied with a string of laughing emojis.

“Make sure she pays for everything she cost us today first. Then next time she loses her temper, she won’t think she can just walk away.”

I muted the group chat and followed Everett into the waiting area.

Just before boarding, I heard a familiar laugh behind me.

It was the long-faced man, Mark. He had been taking this train to Boston to visit his girlfriend, but now he was holding up his phone, filming me.

“Derek asked me to keep an eye on you. Once you’re done with your little act on the platform, just soften up and say one nice thing to him.”

Everett blocked the camera and led me to a different line.

Once the train started moving, I finally let my rigid back sink into the seat.

Everett sat beside me and caught my head when it tipped sideways.

I rested my forehead against his shoulder and closed my eyes.

In the aisle, Mark’s phone flashed.

Then a video appeared in the group chat. The platform was sliding away. I was leaning against Everett, luggage at my feet.

“Derek, she really got on the train, and she’s sitting with Everett! Is she actually leaving?”

Derek sent a voice message almost at once. Tori was still laughing in the background.

“Get her off. She’s supposed to come home tonight. Who told her she could leave on the train?”

The train rolled into the night, and the platform vanished completely.
