He Put His Ex First So I Found My True Mate Chapter 10
At that same moment, I was at home in Grayhaven, packing the last cardboard box.
Inside were all the “gifts” Graham had given me.
A stand mixer for baking cakes for their gatherings.
An expensive camera for documenting birthdays, trips, full moon celebrations, and dinners for their family of four.
And the smart home hub that synced the pups’ lessons, appointments, camps, and therapy schedules.
The day he gave me the mixer, Graham had smiled and kissed me.
“With this, you’ll be able to take even better care of us.”
At the time, I’d taken that as excitement for the life we would build together.
Now I understood. These weren’t gifts for a partner.
They were tools for a household manager.
I packed everything into the box, then took out a hard drive.
It held the relationship video I had edited by hand for our partnership ceremony.
I placed the drive on top, sealed the box, and arranged for shipment.
Recipient: Graham.
Postage due on delivery.
By evening, Graham had rushed back to Grayhaven.
Half the closet was empty.
The bathroom held nothing but his razor.
There was no trace of my belongings or my scent left in the study, either.
Just then, the doorbell rang with the delivery.
He opened the box, and his expression changed instantly.
“I bought all this stuff in the first place. Why am I paying for shipping, too?”
The courier answered evenly, “You can refuse the package, sir.”
Graham was about to snap when his phone rang.
“Graham Whitmore, this is territorial counsel for Mara Ellis.”
The voice on the other end was calm and professional.
“Under the terms of your cohabitation agreement, Ms. Ellis has initiated partition of the property. You may buy out her share at the assessed value, or the house will be listed for sale and the proceeds distributed by the Grayhaven civil tribunal.”
Graham’s grip tightened on the phone.
“Tell Mara to talk to me herself.”
The attorney paused for a beat.
“She has asked me to inform you not to contact my client directly again.”
