He Replaced His Wife And Lost His Mafia Empire Chapter 20

Dominic snatched up the medical report and read it several times.

“That’s impossible.”

“Why is it impossible?” Sloane sneered. “Did you forget we were living together during Christmas week?”

“I always used protection.”

Sloane looked away.

Her reaction was answer enough.

Dominic’s face changed.

“You tampered with it?”

“I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be used and thrown out the way you threw out Evelyn.”

Sloane grabbed his arm.

“The Moretti family needs an heir. Once the baby’s born, Margaret and those captains won’t be able to treat me like just some outsider.”

She still didn’t know how little was left of the Moretti family’s wealth and loyalty.

Dominic shook her off, and within seconds, the two of them were arguing.

Sloane said she had copies of all the internal records. Dominic threatened to strip away the last of her protection.

They had once worked together to make me the joke of the winter dinner.

Now that real pressure had come crashing down, both were desperate to prove the other had ruined everything.

The neutral adviser reminded Dominic that two documents were still waiting for his signature.

He turned back to me.

“Evelyn, don’t go. Give me one day. I’ll deal with her and the baby.”

For the first time, I felt nothing but disgust.

“That is your child, and it is your responsibility.”

“I don’t want it.”

“That has nothing to do with me.”

I rose to my feet.

“The divorce will proceed without your signature. As for the Moretti family, you can sign today, or you can let the surveillance footage go before the witness hearing. The result will be the same.”

It was as if all the strength finally drained out of Dominic. He sank slowly back into his chair.

He picked up the pen and signed both documents on the last page.

The lawyers, the neutral adviser, and two witnesses signed after him.

From that moment on, Dominic could no longer use the authority of a husband or a former boss to order anyone to detain me, nor could he use Moretti family rules to demand my silence, my return, or my assumption of his debts.

Sloane screamed and lunged for the papers, only to be stopped by Costa guards.

I took the signed agreements from the lawyer and never looked at either of them again.

As I reached the door, I heard Sloane crying out, “You said I was better suited to the Moretti family than she was!”

I didn’t catch Dominic’s answer.

The door had already shut behind me.
