He Signed My Freedom Now He Wants Me Back Chapter 47

That small reminder helped me breathe again.

“Lucian, take them and leave,” I said. “I have already confirmed the claim cancellation and waived all requests for Highridge resources. There is nothing left for us to discuss.”

“If you want to discuss child support, the Registry can submit the formal paperwork. I will accept whatever financial responsibilities are legally assigned.”

“But I will not restore my Luna identity, and I will not return to the pack manor as a default caretaker. Noah and Iris have a living father with full guardianship rights. You cannot use their needs as a reason to summon me back just because you handed all the responsibility to me before and now don’t know how to bear it alone.”

Lucian looked as if it were the first time anyone had laid the full weight of fatherhood before him.

“I have a territory to manage,” he said.

“And I have a life of my own.”

“In the past, I ran the Luna office, cared for the children, managed the pack manor, and had to be available at all times for your council. No one ever thought that gave me the right to step away from being a mother. Now it’s your turn to learn what they eat, what they’re afraid of, and when they need a Healer. That isn’t punishment. It’s what you should have been doing all along.”

“Beyond that, do not cross into Tidewatch to follow me again.”

Noah and Iris began crying harder, clutching at my clothes.

The Tidewatch guards stepped forward, but they did not rip the children away. They only waited for my decision.

At last, Lucian bent down and lifted both children into his arms.

As he turned to leave, Noah cried out, “You told us Mom would definitely come home with us!”

Lucian stopped at the door.

He looked at my trembling hands and seemed to understand, finally, that barging into my new life with the children wasn’t an attempt to win me back. It was just another form of coercion.

“We’ll go,” he said, his voice strained.

After the door shut, I crouched down and pulled Chloe into my arms.

Elias stayed beside us and never once asked if I regretted it.

That day, I did not leave with Highridge.

This time, no Alpha could rewrite my answer.
