He Stole My Children I Refused His Crown Chapter 29
Her laugh grew sharp.
“And what is he? A prize to be won?”
“If there really is another life, I’ll make sure he loses every single one of his heirs. I’ll make the entire kingdom watch him pay the price for his betrayal.”
She stared at me.
“Willa, do you think you’ve won?”
“The castle has only changed masters. The next person it traps will be you.”
Elliot was about to have the guards take her away when Queen Helena suddenly lunged at a wounded guard.
She snatched a broken silver blade from the man’s fallen gear and, without a second’s hesitation, plunged it into her own heart.
The guards had no time to stop her.
She collapsed to the floor. The silver cut off her healing. Within moments, she stopped breathing.
The council chamber fell into a dead silence.
After the coup, the Councilors and pack Alphas present unanimously demanded that Elliot accept the throne at once to stabilize the Kingdom of Vislan.
But Elliot came to me first, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from my cheek.
“The chaos is over. The guilty have paid their price.”
“Willa, will you stay in the royal castle and rule this kingdom with me?”
Stay in the royal castle.
The words tightened around me like a chain, leaving me almost unable to breathe.
I stepped back, out of his reach.
“Elliot, I won’t.”
He froze.
The hope in his eyes slowly faded, replaced not by anger, but by a deep, shared pain.
Of course he understood.
