He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 22

The assistant was taken in for questioning almost immediately.

He had worked for Adrian for years. He knew better than anyone what kind of lawyers the Hawthornes could afford.

And he knew just as well what would happen if all the blame landed on him.

In less than a day, he changed his story.

Adrian had not acted on impulse.

The assistant had gone to the hotel with him in advance.

He saw that I had been drinking and had left Daniel’s side, and he followed me to the room where I was supposed to rest.

Adrian was waiting at the back door.

The assistant’s job was to carry me out after I fell asleep and deliver me to Adrian.

Hearing this, I finally understood why Daniel, though only a few minutes behind me, had been unable to find me.

And I finally remembered that before I passed out, someone had knocked on my door.

The person outside had said Daniel sent him with hot tea to help me sober up.

I hadn’t opened the door.

But he had come in anyway, using a hotel master key.

I had assumed he was a member of the hotel staff.

I remembered nothing after that.

The assistant still tried desperately to excuse himself.

“I thought Mr. Hawthorne only wanted to talk to her.”

“He promised me he would bring her back safely. I didn’t know he would flee in the car.”

The investigator asked him coldly, “If she was willing to see him, why did she need to be taken while she was asleep?”

The assistant had no answer.

After his statement was delivered to the prosecutor, he, too, was formally charged as an accomplice to kidnapping.
