His 47 Seconds Of Silence Cost Him Everything Chapter 28

Cassidy soon challenged the court’s ruling.

Her argument was that the complete group chat and unedited videos were a violation of privacy and should not have been used for public clarification.

At the same time, her lawyer sent me a cease-and-desist letter, demanding that I delete all backups and publicly acknowledge that she “never intentionally harmed anyone.”

After reading it, my lawyer asked only one question.

“Do you want to settle?”

“On what terms?”

“She withdraws all accusations against you. You no longer allow the media to cite the complete video. The platform ban and the brand claims are her own problem.”

I turned to the last page.

“She’s demanding the USB drive be destroyed.”

“Yes.”

“Then there won’t be a settlement.”

That USB drive had already saved me once.

Not because it could make Cassidy lose something.

But because when everyone insisted I was overreacting, it preserved what had actually happened.

I would not hand my own memory back to the people who had hurt me, only to let them edit it to their liking once more.

My lawyer nodded.

“If this continues, she’ll have to enter full discovery. The complete family cloud records, account earnings, and brand contracts will all be reviewed again.”

“That’s her choice to make.”

Cassidy clearly had not expected me to refuse.

That same night, she called Evan more than a dozen times and went to Linda and Mark’s apartment to block their door.

I wouldn’t have known any of that.
