His 47 Seconds Of Silence Cost Him Everything Chapter 32
A week before the garden opened, Cassidy came to Portland.
She didn’t storm my office or show up at my apartment.
She stood outside the nearly finished garden holding a sign with my name on it.
*She became a hero by destroying a mother.*
She didn’t have a livestream account anymore, but she had invited several local bloggers who had once reposted her videos.
The moment their cameras turned toward me, she started to cry.
“Mara, I just want to talk to you. Why are you hiding?”
I stopped just inside the organization’s doorway and didn’t go out.
The director lowered her voice. “Do you want us to call the police?”
“Have security remind her that filming people here without their consent isn’t allowed.”
After security went outside, Cassidy only raised her voice.
“See that? She has power now, and she won’t even listen to an apology!”
One of the bloggers called out to me, “Ms. Hale, she says the old videos were edited. Are you willing to respond?”
I gestured toward the organization’s lobby.
On a large screen on the wall, a public fact summary was rotating—one my lawyer had prepared in advance.
The court injunction, the authentication of the complete group chat, the dock surveillance findings, the medical report, and the record of Cassidy withdrawing her claims were all listed with searchable case numbers.
There was no sound of me crying.
No child’s face.
No drop of blood turned into clickbait.
“My response is right there,” I said.
Cassidy lunged toward the door, only to be blocked by security.
