His 47 Seconds Of Silence Cost Him Everything Chapter 33
“They all teamed up to frame me!” she screamed. “Mara, do you dare release the full, unedited video?”
“The one who doesn’t dare is you.”
She went still.
“You’re the one who demanded the complete backups be destroyed. You’re the one who withdrew your claims before discovery.”
I looked at her from a few feet away.
“If you believe the court record is false, you can petition for a new hearing.”
Her lips moved, but no sound came out.
Because a new hearing would mean the family cloud, the group chats, and her account earnings would all go back under review.
More than anyone, she knew what was in the complete footage.
The cameras around her began to turn away from me and toward her.
One blogger asked, “Did you really demand she destroy the original files?”
Another had already pulled up the public court docket on his phone.
“It says right here you admitted that posting your son’s image violated the injunction.”
The tears on Cassidy’s face stopped.
“What do you people know? Without those videos, I have nothing!”
The moment the words left her mouth, she froze.
Security didn’t shove her. No one laid a hand on her.
They simply opened a path and asked the media to leave the private property.
Cassidy stood rooted to the spot, then suddenly grabbed the nearest blogger.
“Don’t turn off the camera! Film me! I still have more to say!”
The blogger shook her off.
“You’ve already said more than enough.”
They left, one after another.
When the last camera dropped, the fury on Cassidy’s face finally gave way to a raw panic.
She had grown so used to the idea that as long as someone was watching, her tears could be currency.
But without the camera, she was just a person forced to face the consequences alone.
When the police arrived, the organization declined to press charges and only asked that she be removed from the property.
As she was escorted past me, she asked through clenched teeth, “Are you satisfied now?”
I shook my head.
“Your suffering was never my prize.”
“Then why won’t you let me go?”
“I let you go a long time ago.”
I watched as she was led through the gate.
“The one who won’t let you go is you.”
