His Fake Proposal Led Me To My Real Husband Chapter 24
After my mother came in, he had used that same impatient tone to say, “We’ll talk about it later.” When Tyler insulted my mother, there had been laughter in the room, too.
Then came the sound of my slap, and the harsh scrape of chair legs on the floor as Mason shoved me.
I hit pause.
Julian looked at the screen, the veins on the back of his hand standing out.
“The shove was harder than it looked that day.”
“It’s over now.”
“Over doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.”
Then he picked up his phone.
“These originals need to be backed up.”
I shook my head.
“Wait.”
At the bottom of the email, there was also a link.
When I clicked it, it opened Tyler’s public social media account.
An hour earlier, he’d uploaded a video from the engagement party.
The clip started when I entered the ballroom with Julian, cutting out the fake proposal and the recording that came before it. All that remained were the parts where I slapped Mason, slapped Tyler, and Patricia was escorted away by security.
The title read: *How she replaced her fiancé at her own engagement party.*
The caption was shorter.
*Some people will always find a way to marry up.*
There were already hundreds of comments.
Some said I’d been with Julian all along.
Some said Mason was the one who’d been betrayed.
Some had even screenshotted the moment my mother stood up from her seat and claimed the Walker family had planned the whole thing.
I stopped reading.
Julian asked, “What do you want to do?”
“Save the page.”
“And then?”
I reopened Natalie’s email and forwarded all the original files to my lawyer.
“Then the whole story goes out.”
I sent Natalie one sentence back.
*Please send the uncompressed originals, too.*
Less than a minute later, a new email arrived.
She didn’t offer an explanation.
This time, she really didn’t unsend it.Â
