His Jealousy Sent Me Straight To The Ivy League Chapter 07

My mind went blank for two seconds.

Princeton.

Conrad had changed my application to Princeton.

And now, Princeton was sitting in front of me.

Not because of my SAT score.

Because of a program I had almost forgotten.

Ms. Davison could tell I was struggling to catch up, so she took over.

“Inez, last November the school submitted your materials to several universities for their early research-talent evaluation programs. Your parents were notified at the time, and your mother signed the consent form.”

My mom had signed it.

She just hadn’t told me.

Mr. Sullivan continued, “Your formal application portal does indeed list Princeton as your first choice. Under the rules of this program, if a student passes our evaluation, we give priority to the school placed first on their list.”

I looked at him.

“So you’re saying I was admitted to Princeton?”

“To be precise, both Princeton and MIT have extended admission interest.”

He pulled another sheet from the folder.

“MIT also contacted your counselor. Both schools would like to have you. The final decision is yours.”

The office was quiet for a few seconds.

Ms. Davison could barely contain her smile.

The dean outright slapped his hand on the desk.

“Inez, you really kept us all in the dark on this one.”

But as I sat there, only one thought ran through my head.

Conrad had changed my applications because he wanted me to get in nowhere.

He didn’t know about this research program.

He didn’t know about my competition record, and he certainly didn’t know I had published papers.

All he saw was my 1520 SAT score, and from that, he drew one conclusion.

If he switched my list to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, I would strike out across the board and be forced to stay here.
