His Jealousy Sent Me Straight To The Ivy League Chapter 13

After the door closed, I picked up my phone and opened the recording.

Twelve minutes and thirty-seven seconds.

There was one line that mattered.

*“Because you always wanted Emory.”*

Always.

How would he know I had always wanted Emory?

My college application account was private. Under normal circumstances, no one but me could see what was in it.

Unless he had logged into my account.

Unless he had seen my application.

Unless he was the one who deleted it.

I sent the recording to Mallory.

Ten seconds later, she replied.

“Inez, go to the police. Now.”

The next morning, I went to the police station.

After listening to my explanation and reviewing the screenshots and recording, the officer’s expression grew serious.

“You’re certain he accessed your college application portal and made changes without your permission?”

“I’m certain.”

“Do you currently have any direct evidence that he made those changes? Login records, device information?”

“I’ve already requested the system logs. But because the text verification was repeatedly triggered, even my own access is temporarily locked. My school counselor is helping me with the request.”

The officer nodded and started taking notes.

“We’ll contact the Common App’s technical department to retrieve the login and activity logs from that time period. You’ll also need to submit a written statement.”

“I brought one.”

I handed him the printed materials.

They included screenshots of the anonymous messages, the decrypted backend ID result, a transcript of the recording, and a timeline of the abnormal application activity.

The officer flipped through a few pages, then looked up at me.

“This Conrad DeLuca—what is his relationship to you?”

I thought for a moment.

“He used to be my next-door neighbor.”
