His Number Changed So I Changed My Life Chapter 08
Madison’s eyes turned red again.
“Charlotte, can’t you just let this go?” she pleaded. “You have a house, a man who used to want you, and Parker. My career is just starting. This is all I have.”
She fought back tears, and Parker gave her that familiar, protective look.
After a moment of silence, he turned to me.
“Lottie, don’t call the police. If this accident gets out, it won’t be good for anyone.”
“And if I insist?”
Parker dragged a hand through his hair, looking at me as if I were the one causing all the trouble.
“No one spends their whole life in love with only one person.”
He paused.
“For actors, sleeping together on set once is nothing. I went seven years without touching anyone else. You could at least acknowledge that I’ve done more than most for this marriage.”
He’d played so many parts, I couldn’t tell anymore if the way he used to look at me was ever real.
It takes me a while to see when someone has changed. But once I do, I don’t make excuses for them.
